Brian Moyo's debut album, Ziyaduma-Marabi Revival, has been slotted onto the iTunes platform after the veteran Zimbabwe journalist/writer found that his preferred method of distributing the music through a CD format was too 'limiting" in the digital age.
In an exclusive interview with Bulawayo24, Moyo who is also the author of five books, said he had been overwhelmed by inquiries for the CD which was released less than two weeks ago in London.
"As much as I am old fashioned enough to prefer to have my music in a CD format, I have to take cognisance of the fact that the digital age is upon us," Moyo said. "We all need to move with the times!"
Moyo, an armature musician, played guitar and piano on the five track album. It was arranged and produced by Zimbabwe veteran musician, Calvin Gudu, of the "Tombofara" fame. Gudu also played various instruments to boost the quality of the music which is now available on https://itunes.apple.com/us/artist/brian-moyo/id444738809?mt=11
Comments across various online platforms indicate that Ziyaduma - Marabi Revival, the product of Moyo's nostalgia for Marabi music, has been well received.
Bekithemba Mhlanga a former Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation reporter, is one of those who were impressed by the track Bulawayo Jive, which he described as an "infectious beat."
