YESTERDAY, fans of Generations: The Legacy lead actor, Raphulana Seipheimo (Tau Mogale) woke up to a hoax on social media that he had died following a car crash on Sunday.

Various people shared an RIP image with Tau's picture in a black and white background with details of his purported year of birth and year of death, confusing those who were not aware of the hoax.

This devastated his family members who were quick to assure fans that Tau was showing positive signs of progress.

Seiphemo, a heavyweight in the showbiz industry, underwent surgery on Monday for critical injuries he sustained during the accident.

According to South Africa media reports, Tau is in a stable condition and recovering at the Milpark Hospital in Johannesburg.

"The signs are positive as well as the feedback that we're getting. All his vital signs are functioning the way they're supposed to," family spokesperson Mduduzi Sikhakhane told Eyewitness News yesterday.

"We hope he'll recover well after the accident in which two others lost their lives."

Tau was travelling on the N14 near Centurion, South Africa when the car he was in was struck by another vehicle.

An eyewitness told Sowetan that moments after Seiphemo drove past him at an alarming speed, the car crashed. Eugene Ravhuanzwo from Centurion said he was driving past Forest Hill Mall near Olivenhoutbosch in northern Johannesburg at 9PM on Sunday when the dramatic crash occurred.

"The white Audi A4 drove past me so fast, you know the kind of speed that leaves your car shaking.

"And within seconds I saw dust, particles and things flying in the air. I was so shaken."

Ravhuanzwo said when he stopped to look at the accident, bodies were strewn around.

"When we got to him he was still unconscious. It wasn't a pretty sight. There were bodies on the road, clothes scattered. When the paramedics arrived I recognised Tau. I was in tears. It was a horrific scene, it was dark," Ravhuanzwo.

Ravhuanzwo, who drives an Audi A3, said he was doing 100KM/h and estimates that Seiphemo was travelling at over 200KM/h.

"That car was moving. I'm glad I was on the slow lane."
