CHIKANGA-BASED rising gospel singer, Emmanuel Mari, has released a scorcher. The album, Ndimi Nzira, carries six tracks and was produced by Olin Anderson of Kunashe Studio in Chikanga.
Manica Post reported that the album which has received its fair share of airplay on radio stations was recorded at the end of last year, but was only released a couple of weeks ago. Some of the tracks on the album include title track, Ndimi Nzira, Hatidududzi, Zvinondishmisa, featuring Ellen Anderson, Abraham, Huya Kuna Mwari and Nyanzvi, featuring Ellen Anderson.
In Ndimi Nzira, the 24-year-old singer, said his music carries different messages of encouragement.
"My album consists of different messages. The title track, Ndimi Nzira I will be praising God in the midst of problems, acknowledging that he is the only one that we can turn to in times of troubles. I also preach hope especially on the song Handidududdzi and righteousness on the song Huyai Kuna Mwari and I encouraged people to listen and do the will of God on the song Abraham," said the talented singer. Asked why he took up gospel music, the MSU student, said his Christian background influenced his decision to choose the genre.
"I was born and raised in a God-fearing family. I have been a churchgoer since I was a baby, so gospel music was the only thing that I knew. I have never liked any other music besides Godly music," he added.
Mari started music at a tender age and has matured into a fluid singer and potential force to reckon with in the gospel music circles.
"I started singing when I was very young. I would sing in church and at school, but only started recording in 2013 when I did my first single Nguva Yatokwana. The track circulated through social media and it was played everywhere. I then recorded this project which was also well received and being played everywhere. People are also voting for some of the tracks on various shows," said the soft spoken singer. The singer who was greatly inspired by baba Mechanic Manyeruke and South African singer, Sipho Makhabane, said he foresees Mutare being the best city for gospel music. He also encouraged local gospel singers to be united.
