"I am an artiste and have passion for acting. As it stands right now in our country when nothing is done to promote the acting industry and piracy has proved to be cancerous, I have no option but to try other avenues like music. If all goes well, I will continue doing music and for starters I will be working with other musicians." As the acting industry continues to face serious challenges, prominent actor Lazarus Boora has decided to try his luck in music.

The actor has debuted on the musical front through featuring on budding gospel musician Edmore Zikimo's new album, "Zambuko RaMwari".

The album carries seven tracks and Gringo, as Boora is affectionately known in the entertainment circles, features on the second track titled "Zodzo".

The song encourages people to embrace any situation they face be it good or bad since some bad situations will be blessings in disguise.

In an interview, Gringo said if all goes well, he will opt to be in music full time.

"I am an artiste and have passion for acting. As it stands right now in our country when nothing is being done to promote the acting industry and piracy has proved to be cancerous, I have no option but to try other avenues like music.

"If all goes well, I will continue doing music and for starters I will be working with other musicians," he said.

He added that since he is a Christian, it was easy for him to record his first song with a gospel artist.

"This was my first time to record music, but I can safely say it was an interesting thing. I am a Christian so singing gospel music is not a problem and I really enjoyed working with Zikimo," he said.

Zikimo said it has been a great experience working with the veteran actor whom he described as humble and willing to assist any upcoming artiste.

"Working with Gringo is one of the best things that have happened in my career. He is someone who is humble, understanding and is willing to assist other artists.

"He still loves acting and has projects he is working on. I am also going to feature in some of his productions and I am looking forward to continue working with him in my upcoming projects," he said.

Zikimo highlighted that they are currently working on a video, which Gringo will spice with his acting experience.

"We are almost done working on the video and it will be out by mid June.

"The video is going to be an interesting one since Gringo will be adding his acting experience in line with the song which also advocates for peace and unity in marriages," he said.

Boora became a household name in the late 90s when he was given a leading character in Enock Chihombori's "Gringo" series that have titles like "Gringo Ndiani" (2001), "Gringo Mari Iripi?" (2003) and the latest "Gringo-Troublemaker" that was done in 2013.
