Police on Friday night stopped Bev from performing her bottle dance, with the self-proclaimed pleasure manager viciously breaking an empty Viceroy bottle in annoyance.
This happened at Hustlers Leisure Centre at 3.40am and her performance was part of kick-starting her appreciative tour of the southern part of the country for the support during the year.
The show was at its pinnacle with about 250 revellers anticipating her next act when a group of five policemen waltzed into the night spot and went straight to the DJ booth and told the DJ to switch off the system.
"Iwe iwe dzima, nguva yakwana vanhu ngavayende kumba," said one of the policemen.
While all this was happening, Bev was on stage and in her left hand, was the Viceroy bottle. The DJ signalled Bev, telling her that the show was over and she asked why as she had not done the bottle dance. The DJs we adamant; she then walked off stage and as she did this she smashed the bottle on to the floor.
Thereafter revellers started to sing 'Into eliyenzayo siyayizonda (We hate your way of doing things)' as they trickled out of the spot. Many were very disappointed.
"How can this happen when we were about to see the main act? This is unfair. I will not blame Bev because she entertained us for the better part of the night. But it's because of police who stopped her," said a heavily intoxicated Misheck Mamburu.
The show started at 12.30am with a glitch and the DJ was Chief Culprit. There was speculation in the crowd that the DJ was mesmerised during the few seconds of Bev and Sexy Angels's opening act. There was a 10 minute delay as the DJs moved their equipment from the front of the stage to the top of the stage.
Revellers were not amused as they started hurling insults to the DJ and singing 'Into eliyenzayo siyayizonda'. However, all that was forgotten when Bev and the new look Sexy Angels took to the stage. The group have incorporated a new male dancer named Spoon to replace unmanageable Peter Kagomera.
The dance group kept the crowd in awe the whole night with their energetic raunchy dance move. Women in the crowd took turns in pushing men on stage when Bev invited male revellers on stage.
In an interview during the break, the group's manager, Harpers Mapimhidze, said he wanted to finish off this year in Bulawayo and Matabeleland South because of the support they received.
