Iyasa to take part in Swaziland reed festival

THE city's finest dance group Inkululeko Yabatsha School of arts better known as Iyasa is in Swaziland to take part in the Reed festival in Swaziland.

The group that has been away on tour is likely to return on the first week of October as they are scheduled to perform in South Africa and Tanzania after their performance in Swaziland next week.

The director of the group, Innocent Dube, said he was happy that other countries are appreciating Zimbabwean talent.

"As a group we are happy to perform in. a big festival like the Reed dance. You know it for yourself that the Reed Dance is the most prestigious event in the calendar of Swaziland," he said.

Dube added that after the Reed festival they would travel to South Africa before proceeding to other countries.

"After the Reed festival we will travel to South Africa and we will come back to the country to premier our latest productions that we did when we were on tour in Asian and Europe over the past months.

"Over the last months we managed to come up with three productions, we will stage the productions in the country in October when we return," he said.

Iyasa has enjoyed a decade of excellence since the group was established in 2000.

The group has performed in different platforms and it is one of the groups that has been consistent in the country's arts industry.

Moreover, the group and its director have been honoured by the National Arts Council of Zimbabwe for championing the cause and the interest of developing the arts sector in the country.
