DSTV has temporarily discontinued troubled Allied Bank as one of its payment points as the financial institution grapples with a severe liquidity crunch which has hit the banking sector.

The Allied Bank, linked to Transport and Infrastructure Development minister Obert Mpofu, has been listed in critical condition for the past few months, together with other financial institutions such as Trust Bank which was shut down by the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe last week.

In a statement to customers yesterday, MultiChoice Zimbabwe said it wished to advise all DStv subscribers that Allied Bank had been temporarily discontinued as a DStv payment point from December 10 2013 until further notice.

However, it was quick to add that other payments points available to subscribers include CBZ Bank, NMB Bank, ZB Bank, Stanbic, Standard Chartered, Steward Bank and its EcoCash facility, FBC Bank, Kingdom, MetBank, CABS and POSB.
