Telecash customers can pay their DSTV subscriptions from their mobile phone, following an agreement between Telecel and MultiChoice.
Telecash, which is Telecel's mobile wallet, can be used by telecash subscribers to send money to any mobile phone user, regardless of network, pay bills and pay for goods and services, utilising their mobile phone.
To make a DSTV payment, subscribers dial *888#, to access to the telecash menu, choose the ‘pay bill' option.
They select DSTV as the service provider they want to pay. They then enter their DSTV account number, the amount they want to pay and they enter their personal identification number (PIN) No biller code is required.
Subscribers using this service for the first time have the option of adding DSTV to their favourites. It will then be bookmarked as a favourite on the simplified telecash menu. Next time the subscriber wants to pay DSTV he or she can simply select it from the list of favourites.
Payment is instant and occurs in real-time. Once payment has been made the subscriber receives a unique transaction ID that can be quoted, like a receipt number, in the event of any query.
"Paying DSTV subscriptions has never been easier," said Telecel Zimbabwe mobile financial services director Nkosinathi Ncube.
"Payments can be done from anywhere at any time. There is no longer any need to go and queue to make your payment.
"Moreover, there is no need to have to memorise a biller code every month when you need to make a payment," said Mr Ncube.
"Telecash is well integrated with DSTV, which means the subscriber's account will be instantly updated as soon as a payment is made. Where a subscriber has been cut off, connection will be restored instantly," he said.
