A television channel solely dedicated to broadcasting parliament proceedings is set to be introduced when Zimbabwe completes the migration from analogue to digital transmission.
Information, Media and Broadcasting Services Minister Professor Jonathan Moyo told parliament on Wednesday that when the digital to analogue migration is complete, proceedings in the house will receive airplay on a channel solely dedicated for the service.
In response to legislator Nelson Chamisa's question on when new players will be licensed to broadcast and how independent they will be, Professor Moyo said any prospective broadcaster will have to conform to the laws of the country.
Professor Moyo also revealed that even portfolio committee proceedings will be broadcast.
At the moment, Wednesday's questions without notice sessions are the only parliament session aired live by the national broadcaster Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation.
