The suspected South African drug mule Nolubabalo Nobanda will appear in court in three months' time, The Star newspaper reported on Monday.
The family said on Sunday the South African embassy in Thailand had informed them through an e-mail that she was okay and would appear in three months.
Nobanda made headlines last week when she was arrested in Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi Airport with 1.5kg of cocaine hidden in her dreadlocks.
Customs officials became suspicious when they noticed white powder in her hair. She had just stepped off a Qatar Airways flight, which had taken her from Sao Paulo in Brazil through Qatar to Bangkok.
Later, she was alleged to have told authorities she planned to meet someone at a hotel in Bangkok and hand over the drugs.
She was to be paid R16 000 on her return to South Africa.
