The army in Egypt has fired warning shots for first time at
demonstrators in Cairo, trying to break up clashes between
anti-government protesters and pro-Mubarak demonstrators.
Witnesses say around 10 people have been wounded.
Protesters from both sides are throwing stones at each other in Cairo's tuhkh-REER Tahrir square, which is the centre of the opposition demonstrations now in their ninth day.
The fighting is taking place around army tanks that are deployed around the square.
The Egypt government meanwhile has rejected calls from the international community for an immediate transition of power.
