Johannesburg - Former president Nelson Mandela is still in hospital, with no news of a change in condition, presidency spokesperson Mac Maharaj said on Sunday.
Mandela was admitted to hospital on Saturday with a stomach ailment.
"Let's work on the basis that no news is good news," Maharaj said.
"Based on yesterday's report, he is in no serious danger. Doctors are thinking of releasing him today or tomorrow, but I'm sure they will want to err on the side of caution," he said.
Maharaj promised that the presidency would issue a statement as soon as more news was available.
SABC news reported on Sunday that the media were still encamped outside One Military Hospital in Pretoria where Mandela, 93, was believed to have been admitted.
The presidency has refused to disclose which hospital is looking after him.
Maharaj told the broadcaster that Mandela was receiving good medical care, and had undergone a diagnostic procedure.
