Malema mentored by Zuma to behave like a stray bullet: Cope

Cape Town - ANC Youth League leader Julius Malema's expulsion from the African National Congress came as no surprise, the Congress of the People youth movement said on Thursday.
"South Africans must be reminded that Malema was mentored and groomed by President Jacob Zuma, his deputy Kgalema Motlanthe, and ANC NEC member Derek Hanekom, among others, to behave like a stray bullet," Cope youth leader Nqaba Bhanga said.
"He recklessly went on attacking those who disagreed with him politically, with wanton disregard for their status, gender, age difference, or significance."
Malema had even gone so far as befriending other "political spent-forces and controversial political leaders such as Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe".
He dared talking of mobilising to depose leaders of other sovereign states like Botswana.
"We must all never forget that the former youth league leader is a key product of the Zuma group that plotted against former president Thabo Mbeki," Bhanga said.
But Malema would also go into history's archives as a disgraced youth leader who had never advocated any progressive youth empowerment programme while at the league's helm.
This factor would haunt his mentor, now arch-rival, Zuma, who became the first ANC president under which a youth leader who helped propel him to power was expelled, Bhanga said.
