Bloemfontein - South Africa's right wing leader Andre Visagie says his followers (Boers) at a meeting held in Bloemfontein on Wednesday suggested killing 30 black people for every white person murdered in the country. The leader also said his followers are upset and want them to prepare for war.
A right wing leader says the general consensus of a emergency meeting of the nation, on the issue of farm murders and the killing of white people in urban areas, was revenge attacks on black people.
The Mail & Guardian reports that about 100 people gathered for the meeting.
Andre Visagie, leader of the Geloftevolk Republikeine, (Covenant People Republicans) said people were upset and wanted action. "They want to prepare for war. They want to set an ultimatum: for every single one of our people who is killed by a black person, 30 black people should be killed, because we are 30 times fewer than they are."
Visagie for a short while led the AWB after the death of Eugene Terre'Blanche, and is best known for the "don't touch me on my studio" incident that followed. He said there were people who were tired of politics and legal avenues and who believed there was no other way to respond but to retaliate.
Visagie said those present at the meeting had come from all over South Africa and could have presented a more radical grouping.
