Mali's military coup leaders are hoping to reach a compromise as the crisis in the country continues. But what exactly are they promising? In an exclusive interview, we speak to coup leader, Amadou Sanogo.

Amadou Sanogo said, "Mali is a member of the ECOWAS community. We do respect the decision and retake the order to go back to constitutional order. That is true, because that's what I took in order to be here. That was my first worry. I'm not here to confront. That's not my point, that's not what I want. And I believe and I'm sure that's not the point view of any member of this community. We're thinking about it. "

"I promise to my people - it's not only my voice. Every single person from where you are from, that live in this country, I swear to do my best to protect any individuals and their goods. "
