A 23-year-old Zimbabwean man, Tatenda Motonyorere, was last week murdered at a pastor's house in Botswana soon after the family and friends celebrated the wedding of a new couple.

Motonyorere was stabbed to death by unknown assailants who pounced at pastor Prince Fulu's residence on April 7 during the night. He had a horrible stab wound on the neck.

Tutume Police Station commander Superintendent Vusimisi Jorowe, confirmed that police attended the scene after a report was made by the Apostolic Faith Mission Church pastor.

He said Motonyorere was certified dead on arrival at the hospital.

It is alleged that Motonyorere's family had traveled to Botswana for a wedding of a fellow Zimbabwean in Francistown.

After the wedding, the family, including the groom, his brother and two friends traveled to Tutume village to spend the night at their pastor's residence.

During the night, four men pounced on the Zimbabwean family and tortured them, demanding cash and valuables in the process. It was during the raid that they stabbed Motonyorere.

The deceased's relative, Kudakwashe Mushaninga said he woke up to see three men, who spoke Setwana, holding a bolt cutter inside the room where they were sleeping.
