Groom dumps bride on their wedding day

NEIGHBOURS had cooked the meat and brewed the traditional beer. The wedding gifts were on display and the bride looked radiant. It had all the makings of a fairytale wedding. Except for one thing - the groom didn't pitch!
And instead of celebrating life as a newlywed, Puseletso Tsotetsi (29) spent her wedding weekend in hospital. The love of her life, Mlungisi Mthethwa (32) had simply disappeared with no explanation. Puseletso was so upset she spent sleepless nights and ended up in hospital suffering from nervous exhaustion.
"I don't care if he has left me or if he got scared, I just want to know that he's still alive. Today is two weeks since I last heard from him," said the sobbing Puseletso.
The couple have known each other since 2006 when Mlungisi, who comes from Umlazi in Durban, met Puseletso who lives in Katlehong, east of Joburg.
"We hit it off immediately and we were friends for two years before we began dating. I left my job and moved to Durban to be with him. Everything was perfect. His mother adored me but Mlungisi's older brother Sicelo hated me because I am Sotho and not Zulu. He called me a whore from Joburg and he used to swear at me. This caused him to fight with his brother a lot," she said.
In May 2010 the first part of ilobola was paid and the couple were blessed with a baby girl, Nqobile, last year. The second instalment of ilobola was paid on 28 April this year and everything seemed to be on track for the wedding. But when Puseletso did not hear from Mlungisi and his phone went straight to voicemail, she fainted!
She explained: "I never slept on Thursday night until Friday. I panicked and landed up in hospital for three days."
On Sunday, Puseletso called her future mother-in-law but Sicelo answered the phone.
"He shouted at me and told me to never call them or come to their home. I've asked their neighbours to speak to mama for me but the gates are locked."
Now Mlungisi's colleagues have called her asking about him because he hasn't been at work since he took leave a few days before his wedding. We tried to call Mlungisi and his mum but both phones went to voicemail.
