A woman in South Africa is reported to have slept in the bed above her husband's body for months and her daughter's body for years at the family home in extension 3, Tlhabologang near Coligny in North West, the Daily Sun reported.
According to SA police the woman finally confessed after the family of her husband, Ellias Moretlwa, demanded to know the truth about their missing son and grandchild, Lydia.
Captain Tselane Nkala said: "The 17-year-old daughter went missing in 2009 and the 60-year-old husband had been missing since May last year. But the woman never reported them missing to police. When their relatives asked where they were, the suspect gave them a story. Then on Saturday she broke down and told us that both her husband and daughter had been sick and she didn't have money to take them to hospital. She claimed she didn't have money for their funerals so she buried them in the house."
The bodies of the missing husband and daughter were found buried in a hole under a bed. Didi Moretlwa appeared in the Coligny Magistrates Court yesterday and the case was postponed to next Monday for a bail application.
Moretlwa's other daughter, aged 16, was not arrested, but was placed under the supervision of social workers.
