JOHANNESBURG- MDC South Africa's Provincial Executive Committee has endorsed the latest Zimbabwean Draft Constitution.

Secretary, Khumbu Moyo highlighted that after a week long analysis of the document they agreed on what masses chose throughout the drafting of the outreach programmes.

"We are happy to consider what the people of Zimbabwe want. After a careful study of the draft constitution, the PEC has resolved to endorse the draft constitution. The PEC views the draft constitution as a positive step forward for Zimbabweans, despite its misgivings, with the document as it addresses a lot of previously unresolved issues as the document represents the views of Zimbabweans as collected throughout the drafting of the outreach programmes. These include the inclusion of a comprehensive bill of rights, recognition of the diversity of the nations' cultures, traditions and languages, as well as the binding of all Zimbabweans including the State and its institutions to be subordinate to the constitution," added Moyo.

Provincial Chairperson, Leonard Dube urged coalition government to fix a date for the referendum as people have spoken.

"We support the view that the draft constitution should be taken to the people for their consideration. Principals in the coalition government must now set a date so people conclude what they decided through the draft document. The different political parties have had their say; the people have spoken through the outreach programmes.

It's time for the constitution to be taken to the people. A new constitution is a step towards a free and fair Zimbabwe," he said.

Since taking over reigns in SA province, the Dube led administration has been reaching out for Zimbabwean community across the country donating and housing refugees in need.
