President Robert Mugabe has arrived in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, where he will join other members of the African Union Peace and Security Council to review the situation in Ivory Coast.
He was met at Gole International Airport by the Zimbabwean Ambassador to Ethiopia, Cde Andrew Mtetwa, embassy staff and AU officials.
The 15 member council in which Zimbabwe is a member was established last year following the country's disputed elections in which President Laurent Gbagbo and opposition leader Alassane Ouattara have declared themselves winners.
The Peace and Security Council is expected to receive a report from the panel of 5 African countries set up at the last African Union Summit in Addis Ababa, to study the situation in Cote d'Ivoire and come up with recommendations to the AU.
The panel comprises South Africa from the SADC region, Tanzania representing the East African region, Burkina Faso, Nigeria and Mauritania.
The panel's report will engage the AU to take a position on the situation in the troubled West African country.
The African Union Peace and Security Council meeting is also expected to look at the situation in Libya where Libyan leader, Colonel Muammar Gaddafi is facing rebellion.
President Mugabe is accompanied by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cde Simbarashe Mumbengegwi and some senior government officials.
Meanwhile, Vice President John Landa Nkomo is the Acting President.
