ILO, SAMM condusts virtual media training for SADC journalists

The International Labour Organization (ILO) with the support of the Southern Africa Migration Management Project (SAMM) has organised the virtual media training programme for the journalists in Southern Africa to equip them with the skills in reporting migration and labour.

The training is meant to promote a positive image of migrants and recognize their contribution to development in the SADC region.

The training runs from 13 September to 15 October.

Over 30 journalists and communications officers are participating innte training which is a collaborative initiative of the SAMM partners (International Labour Organization (ILO), International Organization for Migration (IOM), the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) with the Pan African Parliament (PAP) and the International Training Centre (ITC/ILO).

"The main objective of the course is to improve the capacity of media professionals on reporting fairly and effectively on the key migration thematic areas covered by the SAMM project. Through this course, the project expects to raise the media awareness concerning the promotion of a positive image of migrants and the identification of their contribution to development in the SADC region," reads the communication to the participants.
