Police in Ivory Park, Midrand, were searching on Monday for three people who claimed to be doctors and drew blood from a woman without her consent.

Two men and a woman went to the woman's house dressed in white doctors' coats on Thursday, said Warrant Officer Neldah Hlase.

They told her they were from a nearby clinic and had a file bearing the woman's name and surname. They asked her for water to drink and when she returned, they had donned gloves, Hlase said.

"They grabbed her. The woman put a cloth with [an] unknown substance in the victim's mouth. The male ones started to drain blood from her hands and injected her...," Hlase said in a statement.

"The victim told police she saw three bottles full of blood which was drained from her before she lost consciousness."

It was not clear how big the bottles were and whether the two men and woman really were doctors, Hlase said. It was also not known with what she was injected. Nothing was taken from the house.

It was not known what the three intended doing with the blood.

"We are investigating all possibilities," said Hlase

An attempted murder docket had been opened.
