LAGOS - EFF leader Julius Malema is in Nigeria to visit a popular prophet.

The Economic Freedom Fighter commander-in-chief said he was there to visit TB Joshua to receive blessings for the journey ahead.

His visit had local media abuzz over a private and spiritual retreat that Malema said was his way of seeking blessings and better counsel .

"We all seek divine intervention, blessings of spiritual leaders and it happened that this time we came to TB Joshua and it shouldn't be seen to be any controversial activities," he said.

Joshua is known for his prophecies and miracle healings.

Although Malema would not say much about his own tidings and what counsel he received from the spiritual leader, he expressed his desire to emulate Zimbabwean president Robert Mugabe.

While singing Mugabe's praises, he said the news that he had won another term in office were cause for celebration..

"They have made their wishes very clear and we want to congratulate president Mugabe because he has returned the land to the people and Zimbabwe will be one of the fewest African countries which is truly owned by Africans," he said emphatically.

The former African National Congress youth leader's rhetoric on South Africa's economic policies has been fiery in the past, resulting in him being out in the cold.

He was fired from his job as the leader of the ruling ANC Youth League, however, he said he was misunderstood just like Mugabe.
