President Mugabe will join leaders from the regional grouping to deliberate on the appointment of a new secretariat as Dr Thomas Salamao has completed his tenure in office.
Malawian President Dr Banda will take over the chairmanship of the regional grouping from Mozambican President Cde Armando Guebuza.
The issue of regional economic integration will come under discussion as the region moves to harness its economic potential through the envisaged launch of the SADC Customs Union.
The instability in the Democratic Republic of Congo where rebels are fighting government forces will also come under scrutiny while the political problems bedeviling Madagascar will also be discussed.
The just-ended Zimbabwe harmonised election will also be noted by the summit as per the tradition of the regional grouping.
The elections have already received thumbs up from the SADC Observer Mission, the African Union, the United Nations and many other progressive countries and groupings.
