Nairobi - Almost 30 people were killed in clashes between two ethnic groups in northern Kenya, local newspaper The Standard reported Saturday.

The fighting continued on Saturday around the town of Moyale, near the border with Ethiopia, despite military deployment to the region, said Isaiah Nakoru, the commissioner of Marsabit county where Moyale is located.

An estimated 800 families fled their homes when the Borana community clashed with the Gabra. It is the second time this year that the military has been deployed to northern Kenya to resolve ethnic conflict.
