The past few weeks have been reinvigorating but above all a confirmation of the people's love for ZAPU.
Today 05/01/2014 the ZAPU South African province embarked on its first massive mobilisation process for 2014 in Johannesburg which saw them visiting places such as Braamfontein, Bree Taxi rank, Park station and right now as I write they have arrived in full force are at Joubert park.
The mobilisation team was up-beat, stating that they managed to recruit quite a large number of people into ZAPU ranks.
People had lots of questions; chief among them was their view that for the past few weeks Dr Dumiso Dabengwa has completely changed their perceptions of him.
"We were not sure of whether he was still in ZANU or not as he was so quiet and not challenging Mugabe at all, but now he is slowly winning me over" said one of the people in the streets of Johannesburg today.
Dr Dumiso Dabengwa has been in the forefront in recent days in demanding ZAPU properties. In his interview with Nomalanga of SWRadio Africa, he narrated how ZANU confiscated ZAPU properties and ZAPU war time records and in the same interview, he stated that ZAPU was not in any shape or form prepared to re-unite with ZANU pf. He was unequivocal in his stance regarding the unity accord which he described as dead and buried.
The ZAPU activists in Johannesburg today felt buoyed and enthused to do more as it became clear that people's perceptions of the party are positively changing and the number of people who joined the party and those who voiced their support for the party gave the activists hope and strength that ZAPU is back on the centre stage of Zimbabwean politics.
