A 60-year-old mum of two from Orlando East in Soweto says she can't live at her mother's house because frightening things happen to her there and she spends all her money travelling to friends and relatives' homes.
Sibongile Senoa said the problem with the alleged evil spirits began when she moved from her own house in Protea Glen, Soweto, back to her mum's house in 2011.
"My younger brother and his wife were living in the house at the time, but they allowed me and my boys to move into the back rooms," she said.
But soon the relationship between the siblings became sour, and the conflict got physical. The couple moved out.
After they moved out, one night last year a strange thing apparently happened to Sibongile in the toilet.
"My face felt as if it had a thick spider web on it. My feet swelled up and I felt pain all over my body," said Sibongile.
She realised it happened only when she was at the family house. And that made her believe that someone didn't want her at her mother's house.
"My sons experienced the same thing. So we decided to all move out and now nobody's looking after the house."
Traditional healer Mandla Mnqwazi said people sometimes wipe the floor with a tissue and take it to a traditional healer to drive other people out of a house.
