Johannesburg - Just a few kilometres from the abandoned shaft in Benoni where dozens of illegal miners have been rescued, the bodies of two illegal miners were discovered on Tuesday.
Two young Zimbabwean men died in an abandoned mine shaft in Benoni, South Africa, after it collapsed.
The two have been identified 29-year-old Blessing Chaitwa and 24-year-old Shelton Mpofu.
According to eNCA, a week after going underground, rocks collapsed on the pair and killed.
Emergency services called to the scene refused to go underground as the ground was too unstable
Friends and colleagues managed to bring Chaitwa's body to the surface. Mpofu remained trapped but friends vowed to recover his body.
