BOTSWANA police are reportedly investigating a case of a Motswana man who allegedly shot and killed a yet-to-be identified Zimbabwean man, who had allegedly broken into his residence at Mahalapye last week.
Botswana's weekly Sunday Standard reported yesterday that police were investigating the shooting and killing of the Zimbabwean man.
The paper quoted Mahalapye police spokesperson Superintendent Amos Kekgathetse saying the cops were investigating a case in which "an intruder, alleged to be a 35-year-Zimbabwean, was shot dead while trying to steal from a residential house".
Kekgathetse said the now deceased broke into the residence, but the owner woke up and fired at the suspect. He said the suspect was rushed to hospital with gunshot wounds to the head, but he died soon after admission. In a similar incident, the owner of a house shot at two suspicious occupants of a stationary vehicle who had allegedly jumped into a residential house in Gaborone West.
Although one of the suspects escaped, the police managed to apprehend a 34-year-old man.
