STOP COMPARING the party current leadership to Nelson Mandela.
This is the view of ANC secretary-general Gwede Mantashe.
"I think it's wrong to equate us to Mandela.....The ANC does not start with Mandela and end with Mandela. It has had nine presidents before (Mandela) and two presidents after.
"Talk to problems, don't talk to Mandela. Stop fantasising," Mantashe said on Thursday.
He was responding to a question on why the ANC had lost the calibre of leadership of Mandela's stature.
Mantashe was also asked about whether the Nkandla scandal involving the ruling party's leader was not responsible for the recent incidents of booing directed at SA President Jacob Zuma.
"Remember (I) myself was booed. I have seen (DA leader) Helen Zille being booed. It's normal," he replied.
