44-year-old Martin Letebele says that a vision from his ancestors told him there was a skeleton in his living room so he dug up the floor with a pickaxe.
Martin's nephew Daniel (36), said: "I came home from the hardware shop and found him digging in the house. When I asked him what he was doing, he said he was looking for a human skeleton.
"Martin has been a sangoma for the past five years and says he is following the ancestors' instructions but this is a family house."
Family member France (27), who sleeps in the living room, said he was forced to move into the kitchen.
"Nothing strange has been happening in the house so we don't know why he's doing this," he said.
The family complained that if there was no skeleton it would cost them a lot of money to fix the floor.
Although they respected Martin as a traditional healer, they felt that it was unlikely there was a skeleton there.
When Daily Sun spoke to Martin, he confirmed he was digging up the floor. He said he was in no doubt that he would find a skeleton.
"I will keep digging until I find it. This is something I have to do," he said.
