A woman claiming to be prophet Mboro of Incredible Happenings has allegedly been asking people to donate money to her on WhatsApp, and threatening to curse them if they do not.

Most people were so scared they would get cursed that they didn't alert the real Mboro.

Eventually, Mboro found out and laid a fraud case at the Alberton cop shop in Ekurhuleni.

The suspect was arrested on Friday.

One of the victims, who did not want to be named, said that he received a WhatsApp message last Monday saying: "Hi, I'm Paseka, the well-known prophet Mboro. I need R15000 to help two kids who need to go to school."

The victim said he later phoned the number but it always went to a woman's voicemail.

"I told her on WhatsApp that I would donate R100000 and she was happy. She said she would talk about me on the radio for showing what ubuntu was," he said.

"But I knew she was an imposter. I know Mboro is a man. It was clear that she wanted to make money by using his name."

The victim also opened a case with the police. Mboro said: "I'm glad the woman was arrested before she could do more harm to people.

"At our church no one is forced to give offerings."

Alberton cops have confirmed that the woman was arrested and a fraud case was opened.
