Before tears crying dozens of Zimbabwean citizens who died at the Durban Deep Mine in Roodeport South Africa have even dried, live reports coming from the mine are that at least 2 Zimbabweans have been shot dead by fellow Lesotho illegal gold miners.
Reports from the mine are that as of mid day today (June 4) Zimbabweans and Lesotho nationals all illegal miners at the mine were in a bloody shoot out of each other resulting in so far 2 Zimbabweans confirmed dead. Details of the fighting are still scatchy and Bulawayo24 has immediately sent its team of investigative community reporters to the site for more details.
A couple of months back scores of Zimbabweans were recovered dead from the mine amidst what witnesses on the ground claimed were a result of mining wars underground which authorities refused to confirm but attributed the deaths to a gas explosion underground. Bulawayo24 still has confirmed interviews with eye witnesses who came out of the mine alive claiming that the deaths were as a result of the wars underground.
According to sources sending information to Bulawayo24 from the mine close to 20 South African Police Services vehicles are on site and a number of miners have been arrested and sent to nearby Lindela Refugee Repatriation Centre. According to reports the alleged killers have escaped from the mine and have not been caught but police are on a manhunt for them.
Bulawayo24 will be giving updates on the situation at the mine as events unfold.
