Regional bloc Sadc is battling to raise $500 billion required to implement the 2007 Infrastructure Development Masterplan, touted as the panacea to the region dilapidated infrastructure.

Sadc Infrastructure Vision 2027 was born out of the Lusaka Zambia summit in 2007 where member states agreed to establish a strategic framework to guide the development of seamless and cost-effective trans boundary infrastructure.

African Union Commission chairperson Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma said the continental grouping was still waiting for member states to make binding commitments by contributing funds to the Masterplan.
