Sadc Troika meets over Lesotho

The SADC Organ on Politics, Defence and Security (Troika) is meeting in Pretoria, South Africa with a view of coming up with solutions to the political problems that are threatening peace and stability in Lesotho.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Simbarashe Mumbengegwi told the ZBC News over the weekend that Zimbabwe as the chair of the regional group is also attending the meeting which will among other factors focus on workable mechanisms to restore peace and stability in Lesotho.

"The situation is in a state that needs urgent attention by SADC, so we are going there," he said.

The Kingdom of Lesotho has in the past few weeks been rocked by political problems, with reports saying the country's Prime Minister, Mr Tom Thabane has fled the country to South Africa accusing the military of taking over power and leaving the country in serious problems.
