'Save us from sex noise,' says cops

THIS place is not fit for humans. So say cops who share their barracks with magoshas.
Policeme in South Africa complain that the magoshas' sex noises keep them up at night.
"The men roar like lions," one cop told Daily Sun. But noise is the least of the problems at the Umziwethu near Protea cop shop in Soweto, south of Joburg.
"Part of the barracks burned down 15 years ago and has still not been fixed," another cop said.
"We are made to pay the rent and services but we are living in a pig sty. Every month R90 is deducted from our salaries for garbage collection, but the municipality workers hardly come to take the rubbish.
"The stench of garbage is everywhere. Bathroom pipes don't work and toilets are blocked. But we're forced to use them because we can't afford anything else."
The People's Paper was shown a room where the magoshas are said to be operating from. They have moved into the broken-down building, and so have homeless people.
Some of the women fear their partners maybe seduced by the magoshas.
"I don't feel comfortable with them here," said cop Rosette Ndou.
"Some of us are raising kids, and for them to see and hear things like these will damage them. We complained to the committee which is managing the barracks, but nothing was done," she said.
Captain Mpande Khoza said management at Moroka Police Station knew about the conditions at Umziwethu.
"There is a shortage of cleaners in the police station, Khoza said. "Members were informed to be responsible, but instead they dump garbage everywhere."
He said municipal workers go there often to collect rubbish.
Khoza said the burnt buildings were reported to the department of public works. "They promised to fix the building as soon as funds are available," he said.
"As for the magoshas, cops must arrest people when crime is committed in their presence."
