Pietermaritzburg - A sex party enthusiast from Gauteng is fuming after he drove to Pietermaritzburg for a "sex party" that allegedly turned out to be a scam.

An advert for the sex party, which depicted two semi-naked women, made the rounds on social media two weeks ago.

The pleasure party was to be held at Albert Falls Dam, according to the advert.

The 27-year-old man from Pretoria, who asked not to be named, told The Witness on Monday how he and his friends were fooled.

"I'm disappointed," he said.

'We all had one mission - to have fun'

He said his friend from Kimberley in the Northern Cape had seen the advert and sent it to him. After deciding to attend it, they contacted the number displayed on the advert.

"We confirmed our attendance through a WhatsApp group. When he got to Pietermaritzburg on Friday, we called Sbu [the organiser] but he did not pick up his phone.

"I had brought two women with me and my friend had brought three. We wasted our money and time. We all had one mission - to have fun. We were disappointed and angry."

The man said they then decided to go to Durban where they had their "mini-sex party" in an upmarket Durban hotel. He said it was not the first time he had gone to a sex party.

"I once went to a sex party in Melville [Johannesburg] and I had so much fun. The entrance was free and we were asked to bring condoms," he said.

He added that he would not stop attending sex parties because they are "fun".

The Witness reported previously that Zethembe Msomi, the owner of the number displayed on the advert, denied any involvement.

"Someone is trying to ruin my name," he said that time.

Msomi said on Monday that he is trying to trace who might be responsible.
