Man arrested for stabbing his mother

A 41-year-old man allegedly stabbed his mum to death at the Naturena extension 19 in Johannesburg.

Junior Mlotshwa (40) said that he's known the man and his mum ever since they moved to the kasi in 2006.

"At first it didn't seem like they had problems," Junior said.

"Everyone in the neighbourhood thought they were lovers."

Junior said they were always together and they never had visitors.

Things started going wrong on 25 August when the mum and her son had a fight.

"I had to call the police," Junior said.

"I knew they had problems but I never thought that it would get this far."

A woman who goes to the same church as the murdered mum broke down and cried as she passed the family's yard.

Residents had to calm her down and comfort her.

Constable Sibongile Mnguni told the People's Paper that a man was arrested, and a murder was case opened at Mondeor Police Station.

Mnguni said the motive for the murder was still unknown. but the suspect will appear in the Joburg Magistrates Court soon.
