MoneyGram International announced a very exciting list of nominees for the upcoming prestigious Zim Achievers Awards to be held on November 8 at Gallagher Estate, Midrand.

The red carpet initiative seeks to celebrate the exceptional achievements of Zimbabweans living in South Africa, who are making positive contributions in their adopted country and beyond

The nominees' announcement event held at Monte Casino on Thursday evening included former Warriors Captains Peter Ndlovu and Esrom Nyandoro, arguably one of the best music drummers Sam Mataure and Metro FM DJ Nothemba Madumo. The legendary Mtukuzi also endorsed the inaugural awards with a hearty televised message. Highlights of the evening included a live performance by award winning Berita Khumalo and hilarious comedy skit from renowned Zimbabwe actor Leroy Gopal.

Marketing Manager for South and East Africa at MoneyGram, Mr Peter Mureu stated that MoneyGram is proud to be the headline sponsor of the inaugural Zimbabwe Achievers Awards SA event. "Zimbabwe is one of our key corridors and being able to recognise and celebrate the success of Zimbabwean Nationals is valuable to us as a company. Our strategic partnership with ZAA is one that we value and we look forward to grow it in the future as we continue to provide affordable and reliable money transfer services to the Zimbabwean community living in South Africa."

The chief executive of the Zim Achievers Awards SA, Richard Moyo, said in his speech, "the awards are not just about outstanding Zimbabweans who have flown the country's flag high in South Africa but are a celebration of the African immigration story that has affected millions across the continent. The theme of the event is therefore ‘One Africa, One People."
