Woman denies raping husband

A 24-year-old woman made a brief appearance at South Africa's Pietermaritzburg Magistrate's Court on Monday, charged with the rape of her husband.

The woman, who cannot be named to protect both her and her husband's identities, is accused of raping her husband at their home on 1 August.

The 28-year-old husband reported to the police that he was asleep when his wife undressed him and started performing sexual acts with him.

The woman applied for bail saying that she will deny raping her husband.

Magistrate Ntsoaki Ndawonde released her on a warning.

She will be back in court on 6 October.
