Woman throws newborn in sewage

A 23-year-old Zimbabwean woman living in Ivory Park near Midrand, Gauteng, SA, has confessed that she gave birth and put the child in a bucket of water before throwing it into a dirty stream of sewage.
 
"I asked my girlfriend why she no longer had a big tummy, but she didn't answer me," said the boyfriend from Ivory Park near Midrand, Gauteng.
 
"I suspected she did something to my child. I called the community so that she could explain her actions, and we called the cops."

She took the cops to the place where she had dumped the baby. Ivory Park cops searched the water and found the baby's body.
 
The woman told cops she didn't have money to buy clothes for the child. The boyfriend said that the mum didn't work.
 
"I was supporting her and our 20-month-old baby," he said. I don't know why she killed my child for financial reasons.
 
The child was going to survive like the rest of us."

Ivory Park cop spokeswoman Nelda Sekgobela said the woman will appear in the Tembisa Magistrates Court soon on a murder charge.
