VIRILE Bishop Bonga practises what he preaches about polygamy.
He sleeps with his two wives - in the same bed!
and he says he is like King David of the bible.
Now Bishop Bonga Khuzwayo (50) is threatening to take all anti-polygamy churches to the South African Human Rights Commission.
He claims that pastors who stop their church members marrying many wives violate their rights.
"This right is enshrined in the Constitution, which is freedom of choice," said the bishop from Mayibuye Community Church in
Ixopo, in the KZN Midlands.
"I can't find one script in the Bible that says polygamy is a sin. Polygamy is not a sin. If it was, King David in the Bible would have been punished by God because he had many wives.
"God showed he had no problem with King David's private life by making him His servant like myself," he said.
When Bishop Khuzwayo recently married his second wife, Hlengiwe Kheswa, his first wife, Nomcebo Chonco was matron of honour.
Nomcebo and Hlengiwe said they all sleep together in his bed at his farm in Highflats, near Ixopo.
The bishop said people should decide what type of marriage they want.
"The church you belong to should not decide for a person what they like or what they do not and church leaders are wrong for tampering with that right," said the bishop.
Nomcebo said her husband told her on their first date that he would take other wives.
"He said I should not be selfish and ‘close the door after entering'," said first wife Nomcebo.
Second wife Hlengiwe said he never hid from her that he was already married.
"I knew from the beginning that I was going to be his second wife. Polygamy needs faithful and truthful men who will treat the wives equally and never gossip about another wife in their absence," said Hlengiwe.
