Scores of Zimbabweans living in South Africa are living in desperate situation as some are now being dragged to the courts after they surrendered their South African Identity particulars in order to get residential properties, particulars and worker's permits in that country.
This has been revealed by one of the affected Zimbabweans (name supplied) who said following his move to surrender his South Africa Identity particulars to the authorities there he was charged and has been dragged to court over unclear allegations.
He said his case number is FNB NO :29250/2013 AND 39677/2014.
The letter he wrote seeking legal advice reads, "I am a Zimbabwean who surrendered his SA ID in 2010 when there was amnesty for Zimbabweans, I have been using SA ID for more than 18 Years. After surrendering it l got my DZP permit and went to Head Office of DHA and they gave me a confirmation letter, I used that confirmation letter to change my personal details with any institute where I was using SA ID eg my bank details, sars, policies, my marriage certificate and drivers licence etc."
He said but when he sent his new details to FNB Housing, because he bought an apartment through them, they told him that he must sell his house within 3 months because he committed fraud or will face the court of law.
"I refused because with my understanding, all financial stake holders were consulted by the DHA about the Zimbabwean Project,"he said.
"I informed DHA through Sharon who referred me to the LEGAL DEPARTMENT OF HOME AFFAIRS and I was issued with a letter."
"FNB withdrew the case and re-opened it again and we responded with my lawyers, but we are going to court on the 1st of June ."
The affected individual said all banks and financial institute including FNB were consulted, and again how can they address this issue public because his fellow Zimbabweans out there might be experiencing the same problem.
"Is it possible that the Minister can address this issue to help us," said he affected individual.
The individual's case might be just one of the many cases which are faced by many Zimbabweans in that country as the South African national are currently embarking on xenophobic attack on foreigners to force them out of that country.
National administrator for the Migrant Workers' Association South Africa (MWA-SA) Ezra Maplanka yesterday said he was not yet aware of such incidents and refereed this reporter to Ngqabutho Mabhena of the Zimbabwe Community Association which he said was dealing with such cases.
Mabhena cold not respond to emails and communications sent to him.
