South Africa - A pregnant woman has been found dead with her foetus viciously sliced out of her womb.
The mutilated body of Yumna Erasmus was discovered on the Metropolitan sports field in Bonteheuwel on Thursday morning.
Her cruel attackers slaughtered the young woman like an animal. A breast was hacked off and her stomach sliced open.
The pale foetus was ripped from her body and dumped over a nearby wall.
It is alleged that the 26-year-old victim had also been raped.
People using the field as a shortcut on Thursday morning made the gruesome discovery.
Now shocked relatives and community members want to know who is behind this evil deed.
The mother of two was dumped behind the school just metres away from her Leadwood home.
She was reportedly a tik addict who moved from home to home with no fixed address.
The girl's aunt says just a few weeks ago, Yumna was excited about being a mom again.
"She came to my house and said 'aunty, I'm going to be a mother and I'm happy about it'," says the woman.
"The problem was that she was on drugs and she didn't take care of herself and I don't know where she was sleeping."
Her face suddenly changes when describing the bloody murder scene.
"I will never forget what I saw – her breast was cut off and thrown together with Yumna's foetus on the other side of the wall," says the aunt.
"I don't know what kind of an evil person would do that."
She says Yumna was left like a slaughtered chicken – with her legs splayed open and her belly gutted.
The aunt tells the Daily Voice Yumna's grandparents were taking care of her.
"Her grandma is in hospital for four days now and her mom is in jail.
"Yumna was a very troubled child, but no one deserves to die like that."
Her friend says: "I grew up with Yumna and we were very close but because of tik, we stopped being friends.
"Funnily enough, last time I saw her she was asking for a cigarette and the following morning I hear she's dead."
Yumna leaves her seven-year-old son and two-year-old daughter.
Police spokesperson Captain FC van Wyk confirmed that the body of a 26-year-old woman was found at the Metropolitan sports field, Bonteheuwel, early on Thursday.
"The body sustained multiple wounds which were possibly inflicted by a sharp instrument," he says.
He adds that a murder case has been opened for investigation and no arrest has been made as yet.
