The female reporter first had a quick one-on-one conversation with Mugabe upon arrival in his car to the Eagle Square venue of the inauguration event, but that didn't last as his aides hurried him down to take a seat in the event.
"Mr President don't you think is time to step down?" asked a female reporter. "35 years, its just a matter of time, its time to step down. You come here to witness democracy. Is there democracy in Zimbabwe. There is no democracy in Zimbabwe."
The persistent crew again encountered Mugabe as he made his way to leave after the event. They followed him and pressed for an interview to ask about any plans to step down from power and allow real democratic elections in Zimbabwe.
Mugabe has been in power for 35 years now and is serving an incredible 6th term in office. Most of the elections in the last two decades have been won using a combination of vote rigging including the use of violence and murder.
During all this confrontation Mugabe who had earlier seemed to be smiling ended up seriously embarrassed and he was only saved by his aides until he got into his car.
