A Limpopo man arrested after the discovery of two headless bodies in Malipsdrift did not appear in court on Tuesday as expected because he was injured after allegedly being beaten up by angry residents.
News24 reported that Police spokesperson Ronel Otto said the case went ahead while he was in hospital under police guard and was postponed to June 10.
According to earlier information, Elizabeth Madila, 57, and Timothy Selimela, 41, were last seen when they left home in Ramonoane on Friday, May 22 to look for a missing calf and collect grass to make brooms.
They were reported missing after failing to return.
Madila's headless body was later found. Local residents assaulted a man after accusing him of the crime.
Police rescued him and, after questioning, placed him under arrest and took him to hospital in Lebowakgomo.
On Monday, he helped police find Selimela's body.
Otto said police were still trying to locate the heads of the man and the woman.
