Zimbabwean man may have been eaten by crocodile in South Africa

A Zimbabwean man who went on an illegal fishing trip in the Klipvoor Borakalalo Game Reserve in the North West is suspected to have been eaten by a crocodile, police said on Wednesday.

According to News24, Gibson Mkhondo, 44, and two of his friends were fishing at a dam in the reserve on Saturday night, said Captain Paul Ramaloko.

"His friends say they heard sounds coming from the man's boat. It was as if he was fighting with something," said Ramaloko.

Mkhondo's boat was found floating in the dam. He had vanished.

"We suspect that he may have been taken by a crocodile as that dam is infested with them," said Ramaloko.

Police were alerted to the incident on Sunday morning and a search was launched. The search was set to continue on Wednesday, Ramaloko said.

Meanwhile, the case against Mkhondo's two friends, who were arrested and charged with trespassing, was later withdrawn.
