Desmond Tutu discharged from hospital

Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu returned home on Tuesday morning after a week in hospital to treat a persistent infection.

The Drum reported that according to a statement by the Desmond and Leah Tutu Legacy Foundation issued on Tuesday, Tutu is looking forward to spending quality time with his wife, Leah and watching South Africa take on Bangladesh in the first of two cricket Tests, the report continued.

Tutu's daughter, the Reverend Canon Mpho Tutu, said the Archbishop's medical team had prescribed lots of rest.

"They have been fantastic and we'll be doing our best not to disappoint them."
