Woman gives birth in the bush, throws baby into a toilet

A Bikita woman, Patience Mutumwa (21), allegedly threw her newly-born baby boy into a blair toilet after giving birth in the bush.
Police had to dig out the toilet in order to retrieve the body of the child.
Masvingo Police Spokesperson Inspector Charity Mazula confirmed the incident.
According to Masvingo Mirror, Mutumwa was nine-months pregnant and she started experiencing labour pains in the morning. She allegedly went to a nearby bush and gave birth on her own.
Sithembile Makore (45), a neighbour noticed that Mutumwa was no longer pregnant and seemed sick, the paper reported.
She approached the accused and asked her about her pregnancy and Mutumwa admitted that she gave birth to a boy who died.
Makore reported the matter to the Police and the accused confessed to the crime.
The baby's body was retrieved from the toilet. Inspector Mazula urged parents to support and provide counselling for their pregnant daughters.
Mutumwa is now assisting the police in their investigations.
