Cases of house robbery and rape have been opened after a woman was raped in the presence of her husband in Chief Albert Luthuli Park, Benoni, Gauteng.

Crystal Park Police spokesperson officer Tryna Maritz said two men allegedly knocked on the door of the victim's home on Monday, Benoni City Times reported.

"The man (the woman's husband) looked through the window and saw a neighbour, who said he needed help," Maritz added.

"When the man opened the door, he was accosted by two armed men who pointed a gun at him and forced their way into the house.

"The man's wife was sitting in bed when one suspect pointed a gun at her and instructed her to undress. Both men raped her and afterwards, forced her to get water to wash herself," Maritz said.

The suspects fled with two cellphones. No arrests have been made and police investigations are ongoing.

In another incident, a woman in eMalahleni, Mpumalanga, was allegedly raped and robbed when a man broke into a guesthouse while her boyfriend was working the night shift in June.

The woman, who preferred to remain anonymous, said the stranger had climbed through the window and ordered her to keep quiet and sleep. He then began searching through her drawers and belongings.

He allegedly stuffed her valuables, which included a laptop, a pair of sneakers and Timberland boots, into a sports bag.

The suspect allegedly then forced her to undress and raped her as she cried. It is believed he used a condom, apparently to avoid leaving traces of DNA as evidence.
